We are not looking this as the weapons having the bronze, silver, and gold colors. Each piece will appear on the level of b, s, and g. It would take too many textures to appear and dissappear on each level.

I think he means that the weapen is the thing that usually changes when it gets the the gold level.

That is correct, the trident is usually gold and not silver. Sages picture verifies that.
The trident's gold color is being removed, and when it becomes veteran it will change with each shield.
