Kamikaze Rat

One of the best overlooked units in the game. The mana regen on these little bastards is crazy, you can move them halfway across the map and begin your spelunking within 30 seconds. They do absolute crazy damage! Be cautious when moving them and be sure to hold your shift key down so you can see the visibility radius. When you have to move these little bundles of fun through a tight air scouting perimeter, I find it's like playing a game of Frogger :) When you drop these units (and please do) remember to cloak them before you load them. Unload a few of them on that treb that's giving you troubles or right by that bastard Acolyte that's been holding his gate down for 20 mins.... ka-BOOM! I cannot stress how useful this unit is. Look at it this way: If you produce a unit that costs 1200 mana and kill a combined 20k mana worth of opponents (treb, acolyte, some archers) then you have done your job.

Blade Demon

Survives waves, faster then any walking monarch, shit ton of hit points and damage... it's basically a footed Knight. When Elsin kills it, there is no corpse to resurrect :) One of my favorite strategies is headhunting. Build a cabal, 4 builders, Lokken gets the mana, head straight for a Temple, you can have Blade Demons on the field in 3 minutes killing monarchs. I've been called a speedjacker, among many other names, for using this tactic. Just remember to make a birdy and scout in case you get rushed and can't pull it off.

Sky Knight

High cost, doesn't survive a wave, decent damage, only good on CD/DC maps. For the mana to HP ratio, it's just too vulnerable against hunters or archers. If you can pump out 2-3 of them on a CD/DC map and manage to keep them away from a monarch, you can just wreck bases and stray lodestones with them. 3rd party maps, just use them for FA cover.

Fire Spout

Awesome unit, hands down. Cheap, cloakable, more damage then the sky knight, I love these things. On any map, you main build order for a Temple is 3 fire mages then +++ fire spouts. Just remember to always keep them cloaked, ALWAYS. If you are advancing in the battle field and they are spitting out fire, make sure the toggle for cloak is atleast on. When the enemy isn't sure how many of them you have and where, it impedes his judgment.

Fire Mage

Best unit, hands down. Can act as stationary fire spouts, 2nd spell can track and has a longer range then a cannon, fire storm is an instant cast (3 kills a monarch at full health, not counterable), and can even be dropped by Rocs. I've stormed thirsha with two mages and as she was retreating I smoked her fuckin "***" with the fire swirl. I've killed cannons and taken out strongholds with fire swirl. I've used two fire mages to clear out half a map, killing knights, trebs and archer towers. You can kill all sea, air and ground units with them. I've had a fire mage with over 300 kills before - basically it was a 3v3 choke map, and nothing owns choke points like a fuckin mage. The downside is that it can be frozen and the turn radius is horrible. Also the primary attack can't kill lodestones (glitch). I could go on and on but, lets move on, shall we?

Dark Priest

Nothing fancy about their attacks, except the 2nd one is the best. What they are good for is resurrecting. The make a ghoul. Unfortunately, it's difficult to control this beast. He will listen to what you tell him to do, but for the most part he just wanders. The upside is that they are tougher then mounted Knights. I'm assuming that many if you didn't know that ;)

Fallen Angel

The FA is a game breaker. When you send it in, make sure you have a primary distraction and use cover. The soul stealer spell, or whatever is called, does wicked damage and kills almost anything in one hit, even lodestones.

Lokken

Here you're lookin at on bad mamma jamma. Cloakable, best turn radius in the game, best mana regen for monarchs. Basically he was meant as a rogue monarch. Meaning in and out guerilla tactics - not meant for monarch fighting (IMHO).

Sky Knight

Sky Knights are amazing for picking off lodestones on cd/dc maps. They are also great for cd/dc because alot of players think they can still just rush with melee and win. WRONG!!

MindMage

MindMages are good to keep in your base. They are great for countering rocs, and drops. Keep a few of these guys in your base as extra protection. I've seen them counter Knights, and Zerkers well too. They can also steal cannoneers, rolling towers and stone giant... but goodluck with that!

Dark Priests

When my monarch dies as Taros, I like to use one of these guys as my new "monarch". They can fly, have 3 attacks,(2nd is tracking). And when they are gold, they can use like 5 of those 2nd attacks in a row. Killing monarchs with them is easy, just avoid their waves! Also, your fast and can res. ghouls from bodies! Great at taking out trebs too. (use first or 2nd attacks)

the dark priest 3rd attack sucks so much! Is there any use for it at all?
You mentioned killing mons is easy with dark priests but they're pretty weak, a meteor in the face and they're pretty much dead... I see how they would be very good against thirsha though

i call this "the ultimate winning strategy"

I just hate how with taros, some maps you have very little room to build. The buildings are gigantic. =/ I mean compare the cabal size to veruna enclave, then temple to citadel. eye yi yi.

Also you need 3 buildings rather than 2, taros really is a land whore

You can tech up to Temple without an abyss. But they are a land whore, I agree.

It would be possible to eliminate the abyss and put the units into the cabal/temple.... but idk if thats the best idea. Could do the same with zhon. Oh i think that would create unbalance.
