Ok, this isn't a full-game strat, but something I picked up watching Monster play years ago. It seemed to work well enough for him, so I'll stick this little snippet in here.
Basilisks. If Monster was using Zhon (which he did prefer to do for a long time) then he would use a basilisk-heavy defense perimeter. One-hit KOs for most units, plus leaving behind mini road blocks. As the enemy staggers through your new stone garden, you have more time to create more statues. Only maybe 1 zap tower per 6-8 basilisks. The object is not just to kill the enemy, but to turn them into obstacles for their further expansion. I have seen this strategy completely block off paths in maps like sewers where there is only so much room to move freely.
