Gamespy Arcade KOTH Results from May 2001 - April 2003

Just for shits and giggles, I dug up some Gamespy Strategy Wizards Archives to see some old names and winners. I noticed not every KOTH tournament is posted for I remember playing in one that isn't there. But here's the link:

Wow so many names i forgot about. Never knew you were in MD train lol.

Qualified in week 4 of July for main KOTH. But then I guess I didn't show up for the Finals...


Ewww GuanYu beat me in the second round of one. (he went on to win it? I don't remember him being good 1v1 at allll.)

Paddy knocked me out in the final round of June.

Train and I lost 2v2 vs. Manx and Paddy in round 4 of July.

Some smurf named Corrupted knocked me out in round 4 of October.

Me and Avenger_AA lost vs. Manx and Paddy in the finals in November.

Lost to Sir_Drazil? in round 1 of December.

Train and I lost vs Paddy and Manx in the finals of the 2v2 in December.

(I remember the trend of being able to beat just about anyone 2v2 except for paddy and manx.)

I beat X in the finals for February's KOTH. Woot.

Lost in round 5 (finals) of April and the very last KOTH to Aoshi_LA??


Well one for sure I know is missing is whatever one I won as Tarosking, it was an early one though cause thats how I got my GSA lifetime registration or whatever and I remember they stopped giving those out at some point. Switched it to just giving you a year one.


Definitely cool to look through, Paddy and Manx won every single 2v2 event that I saw haha. Paddy and Carny(when he played) also shipped just about every 1v1.

I forgot about people like Wood, Thrakka, Dark Crusader (who was SKCage if i remember correctly?) SauronDB.

Yup, I was in MD.. not a very well liked clan.. but that was where I gained some skill. I lost to GuanYu-SS too in a second round as well. He caught me off guard as well as I didn't know he was any good 1v1 either. That was the only 1v1 tourney I've played in. I played in 5 2v2 tourney's and won 3 of them. September 2002 with X, October 2002 with Cheetah, than I won one in November 2002 with Carn. Always ran into the biggest "butt-buddies of Gamespy" Paddz and Manx in the finals that I lost in.

Yup a lot of random names in those Tourny's. Yes, Dark Crusader I think was Cage too. FireLord is Carn. I really wish I could remember who the "of Daimonds" or whatever smurfs were. It was so brief. Many old names.

Oh and Copper, you should play a little TA:K sometime. I started playing again on Saturday. I also got X back on.. he played a few with me on Sunday. I don't know if he will play often or not. Hope to see some more familiar names (even the brief period I played at the end of 2010) back on these days.

That's a lot of no free time.

Btw _DA_BOM-RX is a speedjacker and doesn't even deny it. Cheated every time he played. In GSA. Last year. That's how much authentic those tourneys are (wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww "hundredrs" of players).

No one ever said there were "hundreds of players" in the KOTH's? So not sure what that snarky comments for.

Some of the largest field sizes were around 30-40.

And Train, i did stop by the other day... Double was online but AFK and there weren't any games up so I didn't stay very long. But yeah I wouldn't mind playing every once and a while.

Carn, sorry about Landherr or at least that's how I know him. He's a bit nicer playing online. He has a lot of skill, but just lacks status. He's told me that he started playing very late in our day's of playing.. I think he said 2005. He goes by many names these days and I do not wish to try to follow.

20-40 would play in these KOTH's, but those Sunday's around 1-5 PM ET, I would count up to 70-80 online to mess around or even play.

Before 2004 i was playing ta online since end of 2002

i have tak since 2000 i think, but only started online in 2004 (knew 0 english though, I used landherr i think at points but cant recall perfectly) then left first months of 2005. got back 2007 tak pretty much dominated by 6t6s "afkers" although they rarely played 1v1 against good players, then i left soon.


Best times were 50 at most but i dont remember very well. Btw I heard tak had no server for a while too after mplayer lagged out once and for all?

Yes, that is true. After Mplayer went down, there was a period between where there was no server until Gamespy. Skilled players get their names used from time to time. Too bad I have a better win record with my smurf account on GS than my real one.

win rate doesn't always correspond to skill though

*u know some thousand $ (not 10 or 50 )
**they use private servers but the biggest championship always are on LAN like in any other game



but ya anyway it always depends on what type matches that wins become (its easier to defeat nonstop one novice player :S),

you can have 20% wins beating someone good 2 in 10.

clearly the guy with 20% has more skill

ya but if someone play many game against many people, records can say something

but kingdoms got lack of people so eveybody "knows" each other which can't happend in starcraft (most(more than 50% anyway) of players which i play i wont see again),
so anyway in kingdoms everyone know +/- somebody skills, but in crowd game records are really helpfull
