| GR isnt too bad but it could be better, it can be annoying like private messages poping up and its annoying sound (even though you can change or mute them). Other than that and a few other things GR is perfect.
This forum's chat would be perfect, but there are problems like the user is shown as away after 5min and disconnected after 15min. If it's impossible to change this chat, then how about a separate chat to be associate in the top of affiliates in the portal? Doesn't need any interface, mainly just keep the user forever connected as long as he's connected to the internet (something like checking each 30min or something if he's connected). No big features, keep it simple. At the most a way to share private messages between users, but that's not priority.
Ideas plz plz. | |

| I have nothing to do with GR.
I already talked to the people from heavenforums and they say it's not possible for them to keep users logged in forever in the chat box.
The private message option is available in these forums. Simply click a username and and find the PM button. | |

| People won't use that as a lobby also because it makes difficult to smurf. | |

| People = you?
Almost everybody uses Skype, because it is the successor of MSN, which is good to chat with friends from everywhere...
I use it, and it is good to play TA:K with your partner and, instead of write, just say. Easier and cooler.
/////// About the chatbox, read that: http://www.avacweb.com/t217-chatbox-auto-logging-in
I don't know how does it work, but I heard about putting it in forumotion chatbox and works... Sage could think about it. | |

| There is no problem with Skype and I didn't say it's not used. But no one is gonna use it as an open lobby for an online videogame. | |

| *All this would have been understood by people that actually play or want to play, and don't just wait on (or make their own, lol) newbs while hiding, but here I go again.*
External because this forums chat can't be modified. I meant, and already said, a chat as a lobby for a game allowing smurfs and newbs to freely join. I don't want to add butthurts/smurfs/serial killers in making. But joining a lobby with them is ok, I do that in GR. So we have GR so what's the problem? \"****\", here I try to go back into topic repeating the topic's question. I'll repeat its answer. GR's problem is:
1- pop ups that shake until you click them, bar notifications and not to count that if you're not familizared with GR it's gonna take some time to mute/change their annoying sounds. 2- afk system makes you pretty much have to stay constantly available to play, people will avoid going online or staying online many times because of that. Last weekend I left my computer open on a Saturday, came back in a Sunday and was just gonna use the internet and, ok, GR was open and I get countless inconvenient pop up windows flooding the task bar shaking just because I moved the goddamn mouse lol. I don't wonder why anyone would rather stay offline.
That's why an open chat system browser based so I can use anywhere, linked (unfortunately can't be integrated) in this site thats central to TAK would be ideal. PMs in this forum are fine, but I'm talking about instant message between users that are connected in the lobby interested in TAK with anyone at anytime, and pls PMs that dont pop up in the \"****\" task bar shaking nor make any sound.
Then you say oh WZ is perfect. WZ needs to be downloaded and is empty. A chat where anyone new, or not, coming to this site could quickly join even anonymously and get support/set games (and be directed to download sites and GR) with anyone whos fortunately available and connected in the chat is ideal.
Repeating, there is no problem with Skype. Now please, people who are interested on this topic's thread move on, other people make your own thread, use Skype or use the very convenient PMs. | |

| Oh ok, understood... Anyway... What can we do? Would we have to make another forum yeh? Because, if I put, for example, a chatbox in my site. Wtf there is gonna have no sense... It's a downloads site. I think Forums should have that, it's where everyone can post, talk, see who is online etc., not custom sites (like mine). But we can do nothing in this forum... =p About GameRanger, ok the sound is annoying, btw it doesn't shake, it flashes, and it isn't that bad. Skype does it too, Facebook you have an (1) when you have something there. It's just to notice you that someone is calling you. If you want that it stops flashing, read that \"****\' and learn how to search google: http://superuser.com/questions/316879/how-can-i-disable-flashing-icons-on-windows-7-taskbar Or: Steps to disable flashing icon on Taskbar - Windows 7 - Code:
-
1. Click the Start icon 2. Type in regedit 3. Select regedit from the top of the result 4. Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop 5. Editing ForegroundFlashCount 1. Find ForegroundFlashCount 2. Double click ForegroundFlashCount 3. Replace the value for Value Data with 1 6. Editing ForgroundLockTimeout 1. Find ForegroundLockTimeout 2. Double click ForegroundLockTimeout 3. Replace the value for Value Data with 0 7. Reboot
--------------------------------- If you don't care about what I said... Then I don't know what to do anymore. xD | |

| Ty. Yea I meant flashing lol. I'll admit I won't do those steps, especially because flashing isn't inconvenient all the time. So sometimes I don't wanna be in GR, but wanna stay connected so a chat would be perfect.
Thanks Sage but I actually started believing an autonomous site for a chat would be better lol well it really isn't simple. | |
